Chapter Update: October 2015
By: Debra Ortisi, APR
PRSA Detroit Chapter President
I hope you are enjoying On the Record, our new blog, which replaces The Bulletin. This is an exciting new way for PRSA Detroit to communicate with our members.
We encourage you to use it to learn more about what’s going on in our chapter, upcoming events, job openings and other timely updates. In addition, we encourage you to contribute.
As the Fall weather is upon us, students are back to school and the calendar says September, it’s hard to believe that the majority of my term as president of PRSA Detroit has passed by. With the momentum of the PRSA Detroit Officers, Board of Directors and Committee leaders, this has been a great year so far, and it’s been such an honor to represent our chapter. It seems like just yesterday (although it’s a little further back than I care to acknowledge), I was a new professional attending my first chapter luncheon, and now I’m the president.
Speaking of students, I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Wayne State University’s undergraduate public relations program for receiving national accreditation from PRSA. This is a tremendous accomplishment for the university, and makes Wayne State only one of two PRSA accredited programs in Michigan.
I truly appreciate everyone’s commitment to PRSA Detroit. In today’s connected, global world, there’s a lot out there that competes for our time. I hope that our members recognize all of the value that PRSA Detroit has to offer.
I welcome your feedback or questions about the chapter. Feel free to reach me at: [email protected].
