It is quite rewarding that after more than 25 years in business, I can still say I learn something new every day. It is much akin to our field – continually evolving and adapting. On April 14th at SS Digital in Troy, PRSA Detroit members were treated to a “Meet the Media” event that fit right into this scenario. Thanks again to PR Newswire for sponsoring.
Showcasing Alan Stamm/Deadline Detroit, Marge Sorge/Detroit News Hub, Jon Zemke/Metro Mode-Model D and Dustin Blitchok/Metro Times, the lively discussion took both 30,000 foot looks at the industry today and where it is going, as well as deeper dives into the stories these journalists like to cover and how they prefer to be pitched.
As traditional news outlets constrict, online venues such as those highlighted at our digital media program offer new opportunities to share our client and company stories in a range of ways, including through blogs, photography/imagery and video content; the two latter options at one time unheard of within the PR-media dynamic.
Judging from the probing audience questions, substantial note taking and initial feedback from attendees, it is rewarding to continue to provide programming to members that achieves what we are striving to offer in earnest: value. See you at the next one.
