Pandemic. Contagion. Outbreak. They are words that instantly ignite fear in us all. This is certainly an unprecedented time in our lives. While the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic will surely be the source of communications case studies for years to come, I, like many so many of us, am focused on the immediate term and how to best protect myself, my family, my colleagues and community. For the safety of our members, I have made the decision to suspend PRSA Detroit in-person event programs for the remainder of March and April 2020. Please note, the APR 101 webinar scheduled for April 23 will continue as planned.
We are taking this course of action to protect our members, sponsors, vendors and partners
in accordance with CDC and state health guidelines as recommended. This action is in alignment with comparable national and regional trade organizations.
As the situation around Coronavirus/COVID-19 evolves, we will continue to communicate with members regarding programs and any other relevant information.
While we have suspended our in-person chapter events, I encourage all PRSA Detroit members to continue to engage in professional development opportunities via FREE online webinars with the PRSA national chapter. NOTE: You must have your PRSA login to register free of charge. View a list of available webinars.
It is worth noting that education and quality information, communicated clearly and effectively is essential during this crisis. As public relations professionals, we have the ability to lend our skills to our community and help to separate fact from fiction and hazard from hyperbole.
As professionals, we are all working to ensure our organizations and clients are prepared, protected and safe. I wish the same for you.
